JOEL SIMON
Joel Simon is an award-winning oil painter whose work has been collected internationally and has featured in exhibitions at the Royal Academy in London, The RBSA, the Royal Scottish Academy, and SwissExpo amongst others.
Joel studied Fine Arts at the Académie Royale de Liège, Belgium before living in the USA and England. He resides in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
He practices the traditional oil glazing techniques of the old masters which he learned at the Florence Studio in Italy, combined with alla prima painting.
His work explores the beauty and emotional depth of everyday moments, as seen through a cinematic eye.
Drawing on his background in film direction, his paintings are imbued with a cinematic sensibility, combining dramatic light, stylised composition, and a strong sense of narrative.
